Healthy Eating

Eating a well-balanced diet is important for keeping us healthy and happy. A balanced diet is important in preventing the development of obesity and the chronic diseases associated with it. Recent research has also found the food we eat to have an impact on our mental health and wellbeing.

The Healthy Communities Team acknowledges there are many reasons why it can be difficult to eat well. That’s why we are working with our community on projects that will make it easier for children, young people and adults to:

–  Eat more fruit and vegetables

–  Drink more water

–  Improve access to fresh and sustainable food

We know that the health of our environment is important to the production of our food, which is why the Healthy Communities Team is supporting our community to make it easier to eat, fresh, local and sustainable food. This includes supporting early learning centres, schools and the local community.

In partnership with Winchelsea Community House, the Healthy Communities Team is developing a food relief program. Please click here to learn more.
