Mental Health & Wellbeing

Mental health is an essential component of individual and community wellbeing. Each year one in five Victorians will experience a mental health condition, with nearly half of all Victorians experiencing a mental health condition in their lifetime.

We know that certain population groups, such as rural communities are at a higher risk of poor mental health. The Healthy Communities Team is working with a number of community partners and supporting organisations to deliver mental health initiatives.

We run a number of events throughout the year with the National Centre for Farmer Health, Let’s Talk Foundation and many other mental health and wellbeing services in the area. Please keep an eye on our social media accounts or simply join our events mailing list.

We have also hosted a safeTALK Suicide Awareness Workshop for the Winchelsea community. This was a fantastic few hour where participants learnt the valuable skills of how to identify and support someone who may be having thoughts of suicide.

Please email healthpromotion@hesse.vic.gov.au if you are interested in attending future events or workshops.
