Hospital & Urgent Care

For life-threatening illness and injury including chest pain, stroke, snake bite, serious burns and possible fractures, do not delay! Call 000 for an ambulance.

Hesse’s urgent care centre is a walk-in service for people with minor illnesses and injuries requiring immediate attention (that are non life-threatening). Open 24 hours 7 days per week

Patients requiring an emergency department will be transferred for specialised clinical care to a Geelong public or private hospital. We encourage all community members and visitors to seek non-urgent medical advice during business hours from their usual Doctor.

What happens in Urgent Care?

You will be assessed by the Nurse on duty (triage).

Depending on your clinical needs, the Nurse on duty may consult with the General Practitioner on call or the telehealth service through University Hospital Geelong Emergency Department.

You may receive definitive care in the Urgent Care Centre that is within the scope of the Registered Nurse (with or without further medical consultation).

If required, you may be transferred by ambulance to another hospital. Ambulance charges may apply. Please ensure your membership is up-to-date Membership – Ambulance Victoria
